| I spent some time with the last sleeve for Inishmore yesterday. I'm past where I stopped and ripped. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| I have one more repeat before the sleeve is ready for the saddle. I'll do a perpendicular join rather than knitting the saddle and sewing it in. (Handbook of Aran Sweater Design has a great explainationon how to do the pependicular join for saddles). I don't mind seaming, but if I don't have to do it, why bother. At this point, I see no reason why I couldn't get this done by the end of the month. Tomorrow is the Chesco Stitch n Bitch first yarn crawl. I've been saving my pennies and my calories (as we'll have lunch at the Sly Fox Brew Pub). I'll try to keep both in check, but I plan on enjoying the day! |

| I frogged back part of the sleeve for Inishmore and fixed the cable screw up (yes, I know, no one saw it but me, but as I worked every row, it was just eating at me... best to fix it and move on). | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Basically, I started the slant one row too early. On a sleeve, it wouldn't be noticable, but it was bothering me. The sleeve isn't quite at the elbow yet, but I don't really have much left to do with this. I have to say I love the pattern, but hate the yarn. After working with Galway and the Cascade 220 that I'm still working on with the Cables 101 Vest (back is at the armhole shaping) the Rowan Magpie with size 7 needles is just really hard on the hands (and it's really hard to manipulate one of the cables). October is flying by and I'm running out of time to finish up the 3rd project. I really can not believe that I haven't started a new project in almost a month. I hope I can finish one repeat on Inishmore today. In non-knitting news: my sister has started blogging. You can see her blog here. |

| I took the Cables & Garter Pullover to Stitch n Bitch last night and added to the neckband. Fini! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| We're having some nice rainy fall weather (and the whole staying/getting dark earlier) is really making getting a good picture hard. Oh well, this one will have to do. It blocked beautifully and I'm glad I did make a deeper neckband. I have about an oz. of yarn left. I will say I loved working with the Galway and I love the way it blocked. I see a new favorite yarn for my cable knitting! |

| After some consideration and discussion at last night's Stitch n Bitch (then seeing Carissa's blog this morning), I've decided that finished project #3 is going to be the long suffering Inishmore. Don't worry, I haven't abandened the the Cables 101 Vest, but I know I won't be able to finish it this month. I will continue to work on it as a break from Inishmore (it's a lot more pleasant on my hands). In some non knitting news: I finally broke a weight plateau (again, all the details of that are in my Fitness Blog). I'm loving my new workout with Yourself!Fitness. I have never worked this hard before and yes, I'm very sore and stiff, but in an odd way, it feels really good. The funny thing is I mentioned the cows (but sadly no sheep)in the background in one of the enviroments and the guys that wrote the code left me a comment that he had sheep modeled to add, but ran out of time! Maybe the next one will have sheep! Anyway, I'm really enjoying this program and I think it really opens up the game consoles to more than just gaming. It's a truely interactive DVD. |

| Projects Finished for the Month of October: 2 (plus an auction charity scarf). Yep, finally finshed up the Cables & Garter Pullover last night. Here's Matt modeling it (pre-blocking). |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The pattern was very straight forward (and it was obviously a fast knit: a little over 3 weeks of knitting). I'm sure you're dying to know what changes I made. Well, actually not much (for me). I did go down a needles size for the ribbing, and actually 2 sizes for the neckband (mainly because I couldn't find my 16" 5 circs) |

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| I also cast off the back neck opening rather than leave them live. My experience with garter ribbing is that it stretches out of shape very easily, and I wanted the cast off edge to help keep it stable. I made the size small, but added length to the body as if for the medium and I had to add 2" to the sleeves. It is currently blocking on my wooly board and Matt should be able to wear it tomorrow (if he wants). He's thrilled with it (tho' there is still some thought that he may want the neckband to be a little deeper). As for yarn: I had very little left, but enough to do a deeper neckband if he wants it. I'm going to wait for the blocked version to add it to my knitting gallery. So now I can get back to me Cables 101 Vest knowing I don't have to worry about finding more yarn for the Cables & Garter. Oh, and since I was too lazy to download the Monday Morning Pet picture yesterday, here's a Tuesday Morning Pet Picture: |

| I didn't get the Cables & Garter Pullover done over the weekend. Why do sleeves always take longer than I think??? I also had Matt do a sleeve length test, and the sleeves need to be about 2" longer (which is what I'll do today). The good news is that I have enough yarn. This is the first time I've used Galway, and that generous yardage threw me off (to only have 3 skeins to do sleeves just didn't seem like it was enough). I will not have much (if any) leftover, but I'll have no problem finishing this up. I have not cast on a new project since I started this project September 24. I even got new yarn over the weekend! (I snagged some of the Jo Sharp Silk Road Aran to make Matt a sweater). I think I'm going to extend my due date of "3 Finished Projects in October" to November 9th (that's when Halo 2 is out, and all knitting will come to a complete halt so I can play 16 hours straight... and don't think I won't). While I was showing Matt a couple of ideas for that lovely Jo Sharp yarn, he subtly hinted that he wants a fair isle (specifically, "whatever happened to that neutral multicolor sweater that you showed me that one time") hmmm... I show Matt a lot of patterns to see if he likes them. After some questions on what it looked like, it was the sweater from Chesapeake Collection. Instead of working that one right now (I don't have the yarn for it yet), I'll concentrate on finishing up his Natural Beauty Fair Isle. If you've been reading my blog over the last 2 years, you'll know that I don't do a lot of Fair Isle knitting. I like doing cables and texture knitting. I've started a couple of fair isles, but the only one I've ever finished is the PW Kool Aid Colour Your Own (and it is one of my favorite sweaters), but Matt has now mentioned a couple of times he wants a 30's style vest or sweater (we watch a lot of Poirot). So I'll have to work the Natural Beauty back into the rotation again. Wow, this was a long post. Here's a cheating Monday Morning Pet Photo. It's the "outtake" from last week's great picture of Jake. Some times you gotta make sure the camera isn't a food item. |
