Knit Alongs
So I did buy some yarn at Noble Knits. I got a lovely rust colored wool/angora yarn to make Matt some gloves. I'm not sure he likes the color, but my only other choice was black. I think Rosie was concerned if I bought the black, she would be able to hear me screaming and cursing all the way out in Lancaster County. So he'll love the rust ones. Whether he want to or not!

Rosie and I were drooling over the new
Interweave Knits, so I got that as well. I love the Ann Budd Gansey and even have some lovely blue Black Water Abbey in my stash for it. Oh, and Rosie: here's my picture of the Lush yarn that's used in the Kathy Zimmerman sweater:

I have to say I haven't touched the sweater project sinced Kitty died. As she absolutely loved this yarn and would even nestle into it while it was still in the package. Maybe it's time to pull it back out and work on it again.

32 more rows to go on the back of the Cables 101 Vest before I start the shoulder shaping. Doesn't seem like a lot... and I find this pattern to be so pleasant to work that I think I'll be casting on the right front this weekend.

Tonight is First Thursday, so we have a Stitch n Bitch, and a little
yarn shop visit. I don't really need anything, but I may pick up some novelty yarn (which is pretty much what this store carries) for an other charity scarf.

I did promise that my next project will be a slipover vest for Matt. He loves the 30's style fair isle vests and I think I'm going to make the Crofter's Slipover from
Folk Vests. I'm going to have to re-do the math (I don't like how she changes sizes bases on changing gauge: the same yarn at 28 sts to 4" can be also used at 24 sts to 4"? Doesn't sound right to me. Lluckily, fair isle is easy to do my own math).

Not much to report. I'm in a bit of a funk, both with knitting and with my life.

The only knitting I've done is a couple of rows on the Cables 101 Vest. I did order some yarn from
Elann (I have an idea of an Aran sweater that I want to swatch up... I think that may be my 2005 goal: my first self designed sweater. We'll see how the Highland Wool knits up, as it was a good price).

My site needs a clean up. I've got two projects to add to the
finished gallery and my WIP gallery is completely out of date. Even the WIP list on the side bar is not accurate.

I will not discrimate against a yarn based on it's color, fiber, manufacturer, or retail outlet.

October is finished, and I hit my knitting goals. I got three major projects done! The last (and "biggest") is Inishmore!
There are some things I would do differently if I were to make it again. Different yarn for sure. I didn't like knitting with the Rowan Magpie at all. I found it really hard to knit at this tight gauge. I also think I would do top down construction a la Janet Szabo. (starting with the saddles then picking up the back and front).

However, it's a nice toasty warm sweater and I do like the way it fits me. Now I just need to figure out how to get the dog hair off of it.

Well, since it's done, I started working on the Cables 101 Vest again. I'm now past the armhole shaping on the back (which puts me better than halfway done, right?). It's so pleasant to knit with Cascade 220 after working with the stiff Rowan Magpie.
So that's my plan for today. After I turn off the phone. I've been receiving 5-6 telemarketing calls for this election (and yes, it is telemarketing). It's disruptive and harrassment. They're all pre-recorded, so I can't even vent. I've been letting the answering machine pick them up (there's a total of 9 from the weekend). If it was anyone other than political parties, I could get a restraining order for that kind of harrassment. I'm thrilled tomorrow is election day and they'll stop.

Here's the Monday Morning Pet Pictures. Full Fall Foliage and the pups love it!
