Looking at what I have left to do on the Cables 101 Vest, I think I can get it done by the end of the weekend. I've got lots of football to watch and the cable knitting goes fast (I'm really only adding about one pattern repeat per piece), then back to seaming it up, adding the ribbing and sewing on the buttons. It will need a nice blocking. Since there are so many cables, it almost forms a "ribbing", so I want to make sure the cables are nice and even. Theoretically, it shouldn't take me very long... if I don't get distracted (I'm playing a game that has me a little obsessed).
I am glad I decided to fix it. I need to do that with a couple of other projects. I always feel better when I decide to fix them then try to live with a problem... that's going to be my January goal. Decide what I can fix and what I can't. I just have too many problem projects sitting around that I need to decide what to do with.... |

Thanks to some concern by an Aran Knitlist member about my yarn choice, I pulled out my Cozy Shawl Collared Aran yesterday. It is sooooo yummy! I did a couple of rows and I know this is going to be a favorite sweater when it's finished (I love the cables and I love the drape). I was concerned at first on the heathery nature of the yarn, but now that I have a bit more done, I think it shows the stitches very well indeed. |

That's one complete repeat for the back. However, I really do want to get the Cables 101 Vest done before the official start of the KAL. So I did the unpleasant tast of taking the whole vest apart yesterday. No small feat, as I had already woven in the ends for the seam (and I'm paranoid about ends becoming undone, so it took some time and patience). Now it's ready to go. I'll add an other 1/2" to the front and back which will give me an inch deeper armhole which should be fine for Matt.
Here's a krappy picture of the top down raglan using the Cotton Plus yarn. It's going to be a very cozy sweater. I'll be curious to see how it stands the test of time. |

I'm going to start a "fashion show" after the first of the year. I'm going to post picutes (one a day) of problem projects to get some feedback on whether I should fix, frog, toss or give them away. It's time to purge some krap from my closet... stay tuned! |

Our Christmas snow came a little late, but this morning we woke up to a beautiful white wonderland. Just enough snow to be pretty, yet not enough to be annoying. (not even an inch of snow fell). Truely beautiful.
It looks like my Christmas isn't over yet. My computer is slowly dying. Ever couple of days I'm having a serious crash and not all of it is from a virus problem. I've always had a lot of problems with freezing and now it's just getting to the point of beyond annoyance. Matt's looking at a new laptop for me (something with a 128 MB memory video card so I can play games).
We had a lovely, relaxing Christmas and Matt's home thru this week. It's going to be strange to have him go back to work next week. I'm looking forward to getting back to regular schedule, but I'm really going to miss having him around.
As far as knitting goes, I've been sticking to simple, mindless stuff. I started a head hugger hat for me (similar to the one I knit Matt) and I'm still working on the top down raglan that I'm doing in Cotton Plus. So nothing real exciting, but nice and relaxing. At some point I'll pull out the Cables 101 Vest and fix the armholes, but I may wait until next week.
