My pagebuilder program isn't being very cooperative today (or I'm just being really clumsy), so I'm doing just a quick update.
The Cozy Shawl Collared Aran Pullover is moving along. I did have a little mistake that I had to rip back 10 rows (I tried to ladder down, but it made it worse), so I have about 3 repeats to go on the front (24 rows per repeat), then I have 4 repeats down the back. It's moving right along.
The next KAL will be the Marilyn pattern by Beth Brown-Reinsel. I was looking at the pattern over the weekend and I realized that I've been knitting Janet Szabo's patterns for so long, that I'm finding these charts a little clunky. I'm not sure when we'll start the KAL, but I'll get an info page up soon with resourses and a tagboard for finding the pattern and yarn suggestions, etc. I'm guessing I'll be ready mid-March, but that doesn't mean that we have to start the KAL then.
I do know that I will be using Black Water Abbey yarn in Iris (a lavender color). I have done a basic swatch and think it's going to be great in the BWA (as the link I'm using to show the pattern is from their site, and I believe the pattern sample is done in this yarn).
Well, can't start the next KAL until I finish the current, so back to the needles for me!

Just as I was all ready to start something new (yes, I've been swatching... and "real" swatches, not "the left front" kind of swatch), I'm inspired to finish up some older projects.
I still have the Spring Forwad Cardigan to consider. I'm realizing that the yarn is what's holding me up. Not fun to knit all those cables with the Sierra, but it's so worth it as I expect it to be a favorite sweater when finished. Too bad I have to completely start over with a new size.
The other project that I'm now all inspired to finish is the Vest of Many Stitches from the XRX book Best of Arans & Celtics. Here's what Cheryl's looks like.
So I'm all inspired to get back to mine. I think this vest is a masterpiece in design and a true test of patience from the knitter. It's not bad while I'm working on it, but when I put it down, it takes a while to get back into rhythm.
At least this has kept me from ordering yarn. So far.
The pattern for Beth Brown-Reinsel's Marylin came, I noticed there's an other KAL for the Must Have Cardigan and I'm antsy to re-start the Spring Forward Cardigan. I also keep thinking about the Sailor's Ribs and Ropes Cardigan from Twists &Turns winter issue that I started in a nice cheery/cherry red.
Carissa also mentioned she's swatching for Alice Starmore's Cromerty. I've always loved that sweater, but I couldn't wear the size before. Since I've lost so much weight, it should fit me now and I'm digging around to see what I may have that would work for it.
This is what gets me into trouble with projects. The SCA is moving along so well, yet I sit and knit and dream of what I'm going to work on next... and usually talk myself into "just swatching".... and before I know it, I have a new project on the needles...
I must say I'm very deeply in love. Maybe it's the time of year when one looks for passion. Maybe something just clicked and the chemestry is right. You know that love is going to bloom at first site, and that feeling just deepens the more you become aquainted. Sometimes you just know...
One sleeve is complete with the second well on it's way. (almost 2 complete repeats done with 3 more to go).
All I can say is that this is the time of year when my heart is given away... Matt and I met 17 years ago* yesterday. Geez, I suddenly feel old. Who would've thought that an accounting/MIS major and a Fine Arts major would meld so well...
Anyway, off to knit a few more rows.
*I have this picture sitting in our family room, and a close friend and neighbor asked me who they were (we've been neighbors now for over 9 years). I guess Matt and I don't look like that anymore! heehee!
