It's not about the turkey

Well, I was expecting to be spending the day cooking and eating, as per tradition on Thanksgiving. We're going to be postponing our celebration until tomorrow (hopefully). Matt has picked up a bug, and being typical of Matt, he didn't do it half assed. So a nice bout of a stomach flu and we'll plan on a meal for tomorrow.

So I have lots of time on my hands (I'm hoping he sleeps the day away... one because he was up all night and he needs it and two because the constant sighing really really gets on my nerves. Why can't men suffer in silence?) so I'll watch some football and do some knitting, while trying to make sure he's keeping down some liquids.

So instead of spending the day cooking and doing dishes, I actually have time to evaluate what I'm thankful for. All I can say is that I lead a very fortunate life. I have warm shelter. I don't worry about my next meal (except what the choice will be... and I'm thankful that I have the choice). I am thankful for all the creature comforts in my life that are easy to take for granted, but should never be. I am thankful that I have a loving and supportive husband (even when he's sick...). I am thankful for the friends and the support I receive from them. Let me just say again that I lead a very fortunte life and I am very very thankful for it.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

We do have so much to be grateful for and sometimes, as you have, we just need to stop and take inventory of not just the material but the nonmaterial things we are fortunate to possess. Hoping Matt has recuperated and that you all get to enjoy your delayed Thanksgiving dinner today.
