Cozy Shawl Collared Aran

Had a lovely time at Stitch n Bitch last night. Finally got to meet Jackie (or Jacq). She was working with some beautiful Noro. Susan was working on (and finished) a scarf  from yarn that she has received as a gift from her daughter so her mom could make her a scarf from it. I took Matt's Sampler Cardigan, but since Kate was sick (hope she's feeling better!), I worked on a multidirectional scarf and the Sailor's Rib and Rope Cardigan (did two whole rows). I know that all my knitting blog readers read my other blogs, so I'm sure you're all relieved that I didn't have to start the Sphinx game over (found some health) and that I'm down to a 58.8 lbs weight loss. Right? Actually, those two things seem to be the focus of my life right now with the occassional time to knit. I think we're going to go look at a new laptop tonight (we'll order it as I need, or rather want, a high end graphics card so I can play games... like the latest Myst game-which I hope is better than the last one.) Have a good weekend!

Well, my next project was going to be for me (the Shawl Collared Aran), but Kate has inspired me to pull out Matt's Sampler Cardigan. I'm going to take it tonight to work on at SnB. I forgot how this just flies off the needles.

Pattern: Natural Beauty Fair Isle Source: Family Circle Easy Knitting Yarn: Patons' Classic Wool Color: Taupe and neutrals Needles: 6,7, 8's Gauge: 20 sts to 4" in fair isle pattern

The blue line is for pockets. It's one of the things that I'm sorry I didn't do on mine. I asked Matt if he would like them and he thinks they would be nice. I also will say that working with the wool for this is nice too (not that I don't like my Cotton Fleece one, but the wool is so pleasant to work with)

So that's about it for knitting. I'll work some more on it today and take it with me tonight (and maybe a scarf as well). I did hear a rumor that we may see the sun at some point this week. Let's hope. This dreary rain has lasted long enough, thank you very much...

Every once in a while I get a little overwhelmed by how many projects I have started. I minor little panic that I'll never get all these projects finished. Then I think... who cares. I'll get done what I get done. I'll work on what I want to work on. It's not like I have a deadline and if I die before they all get done, then someone else can finish them (or do something else with them). So anyway, that doesn't mean that I don't have some things that I really want to finish. I definitely do need a better plan. My project closet is a mess (and we know my sewing room is in really bad shape: so bad I just don't know where to start). So like at any point of when things get overwhelming, I'm ignoring it all. I'm working on a couple of projects and I've been playing Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy (and hit a major snag there that looks like I've got to start over). I signed up for the Blockbuster online service last night so we'll be in good shape for the long sans hockey winter ahead. It will give us an opportunity to see some old favorites (I ordered The Dark Crystal. I hope it's as good as I remember it being) as well as some newer movies. (by the way, if you saw Love Actually and liked it, be sure to see Playing By Heart. A wonderful movie). It's a dark and dreary day today. A good day to knit.

Thanks to everyone that left comments on the Cables 101 Vest yesterday. I'm very happy with the results and I'm very glad I went back and fixed the armholes. So, now what? That's always my problem. When I finish something, I always seem to flounder a bit trying to focus on the next project. I have 3 projects sitting around my knitting chair, and I even worked a bit on one or two yesterday, but I ended up spending more time playing than actually getting anything done. I'm definetly suffering from post holiday blues. Matt's back at work (after being home almost the entire month of December) and our dear friends have headed south for the winter. Luckily, the first Stitch n Bitch of the new year is Thursday, and I haven't seen the gals since November. Kate's doing the Sampler Cardigan and I think I'll take Matt's to work on. Well, I'm off to get my day started. I'm trying to do a little clean-up/re-organization before I settle in to knit for the day. Might have to tackle that pigstye that used to be my sewing room....

First FO of the new year! I'm on a roll!

Well, not on a roll, perhaps, but I'm thrilled with this project and Matt loves it. I obviously didn't do the shawl collar and I had to deepen the armhole depth. I also think that I could've blocked it better. I normally do post construction blocking, but this one I probably should've laid it out in pieces before I did the seaming and ribbing to get a nice even blocking. Overall a big thumbs up. It's a sweet pattern, that's for sure (I see one in my future. In a cotton blend, but without bottom ribbing to give it a more "boxy" feel...) So that's what I did while watching a lot of college football over the weekend. I also worked on the top down cotton raglan in Cotton Plus. Almost done with the first sleeve. I also got a couple more rows done on the Cozy Shawl Collared Aran. The official start date of the KAL is January 15. It's an other sweet pattern. I did do a little stash clean up over the weekend. I found some yarn that I had completely forgotten about. Some Annabel Fox in my stash! In a beautiful purple. It's just the right gauge for the Flyingdales Cardigan pattern... may have to swatch it up today just to see (it's not starting if it's just a swatch!!!!) However, I am going to try to concentrate on doing some weeding out and finishing up. It always feels good to finish something. I think I'll be pulling out the Spring Forward Cardigan (I need to update that picture) today too. Spring is only a few months away, after all...
