I'm still not knitting as of yet, but my new "laptop" is here so I'm getting used to it. I'm so used to the Thinkpad, that using this is a real challenge. It also is using Java to run my pagebuilder application, which I hate (gotta fix that).

It is huge. That's why Matt and I laugh at it being a "laptop". It's not like the old Compaq "portable computers" from the late 80's (remember those? Matt used to lug the 30lb "portable" around Philadelphia. It was heavy and bulky. We've come a long way)

This is my first new "laptop": all the others have been dumpster rescues (anyone that works in IT probably understands this) or refurbished. My keypad actually has all the letters on it (luckily I touch type, so I don't need them... but it's still nice that they're there).

It's been great. The widescreen makes watching DVD's a wonderful experience and I'm currently playing
Myst: URU again (and I'm enjoying it more this time).

I will knit a bit today, but between the sore arm and the new "toy", I'll probably not do much. We'll see!

Well, not much knitting got done yesterday and I don't think much will get done today. I'm having pain in my shoulder to my hand and think that I need to give it some rest. Not sure if I have a pinched nerve or if it's just from over use, but we'll take a break either way (even typing is tough right now).

Here's a pic of the Slouch Sock in progress. I really want to work on it, as I'm close to starting the heel...
Pattern: Natural Beauty Fair Isle
Source: Family Circle Easy Knitting
Yarn: Patons' Classic Wool
Color: Taupe and neutrals
Needles: 6,7, 8's
Gauge: 20 sts to 4" in fair isle pattern
It's really cold (single digits) and warm and cozy socks sound really great, but I'm thinking this may be the culpret. I may have to get small circular needles to do socks. The way I hold the DPN's might be what's causing the hand pain.

Sadly, I think I'm also going to give it a rest from game playing.
Thanks to Matt at
Crowing Ram
for the button.
So much I want to work on!!!! Oh well, better to rest it now so I can get back sooner!

Stitch n Bitch tonight, maybe the hand will feel better so I can work on something there?

The KAL for the Cozy Shawl Collared Aran is officially under way. Since I had a bit of a head start on it, I'm feeling like I got quite a bit done over the weekend. The back is to the "armpits" and I've picked up the stitches for the left front and done a few rows. I couldn't work on it during football, as I have to pay attention to the increases (you add a pattern as you go), but I should get some done today.

I tried to fix the heel on my
denim socks during football and made it worse (don't you hate when that happens), so I frogged back to the heel and I'll just try again. Since I didn't feel like dealing with it after frogging, I started an other pair of socks. I got the Socks, Socks, Socks book from XRX* for Christmas and decided to try the Slouch Socks. The photograph in the book does not show how cool these are. I'm having a blast knitting it (and it's going really fast... espeically as someone who doesn't enjoy knitting socks.)

I love the
only pair of socks I knit, so I want more. I just wish I enjoyed knitting them more.

Anyway, I still like knitting sweaters the best so that's the plan today. Maybe I can get the left front down to the neckline today!

*I have a cable modem, yet the knittinguniverse site is horrible to load for me. Doesn't matter if I select Flash or non-Flash. Half the pictures don't load and it takes forever (or I get an error). Is this just me or do other have a lot of problems with their site?
