I forgot a possible description of myself yesterday: crocheter. I don't crochet much more than afghans (I have real gauge issues with crochet and haven't been successful on any clothing... but I keep trying). I went had lunch, shopping and therapy with my good friend and neighbor yesterday. We stopped in Walmart and I found some perfect Project Linus yarn. Since I'm easily distracted by bright shiney new things, I started a Project Linus afghan yesterday (btw: I have 2 started waiting to be finished.)

It is really hard to find nice "boy" colors... especially in the multicolor yarns. Bright, cheery multicolor yarns without pink is the goal. So I just had to get some of it!!! A nice basic ripple afghan (3 rows of solid, 2 rows of mulitcolor).

Since I do have gauge issues with crochet, it's not as wide as I was hoping for, but it's still an appropriate size.

You can also see the next block for the
Leisure Arts Sampler in the picture. 2" to go on that one.

For anyone who missed the announcement on MTV last night for the Xbox 360, I Tivo'd it. You're welcomed to come over and watch it. Or you could just read all about it
here. It's pushing game consoles to more of a multimedia center... not just for games. I will say that I'm not really interested in the game titles that have been announced for launch. I'm willing to bet more will be added.

Okay, I'm not in the best of moods. I updated my game blog first this morning and it didn't go well. It finally posted my third attempt. Not good. Now for this blog, I was going to do the meme that Carissa tagged me with. Well, pagebulider won't let me cut and paste from other sites. So I would manually have to type out the meme. Uh, nope, not gonna do that. So if you want to know what the questions are, go here.

I've been thinking about this a lot and part of my problem is that I don't want to be any of those things. Even a painter (which I went to college to be). I guess I just want to be a knitter or a gamer, or a housewife. Or even better: I just want to be Cindy. I realize that that isn't very acceptable today. Women are supposed to want it all, and quite frankly, I don't want any of it. I don't want children, I don't want a career, or even a job. I'm happy being just Cindy. No "thing" describes or even defines who I am. I'm just me. And I like it that way.

So I've spent several days thinking about what I would do if I had chosen any of those careers, and quite frankly, I don't know. So here's my smart assed answers:

If I could be a musician: I would have to practice more.
If I could be a painter: I would have someone else clean my brushes (and a side note  to Dan Horne, a professor from college: I would also leave those brushes in my turpentine... so there).
If I could be a gardener: I would have a staff to take care of them for me (just like Martha Stewart!)
If I could be a chef: I would have to have someone clean up after me (I'm a messy cook)
If I could be a world famous blogger: you mean I'm not? damn and I thought everyone read my blog....

So it looks like I have no plans on changing the world. I just want someone to clean up after me. Hmmmm. While we're at it, can we get someone else to vacuum the dog hair in my house?

Progress is good.
Be sure to click on the picture to get a better view of all those lovely cables! So the armhole shaping is done. Just 6" or so until I do shoulder shaping. Then the front. Which should be faster, right? I mean, it's got a nice deep Vneck, so that's less knitting!
Moss Panels
Another block done for the Leisure Arts Sampler Afghan. Not the most interesting block. Either in looks or to knit, but it should look fine in the afghan (too many busy blocks can distract from the overall design, I think).

It was a long day yesterday. A little road work on our street made getting to and from the grocery store a challenge, then of course the dogs had to try to scare off the huge pieces of road work equipment. I think they think it worked (as they did eventually leave), but it stressed them out that every car that drove by got a warning bark. Made for one very long day. Finally, some rest:

Here's a link to some photos of the Turkey Hill Country Classic (in case you don't know: Matt's the one with the beard). Gotta love the cow. Matt finished 13th out of 51 riders. A great finish! (you may also notice that everyone has a sponser jersey. Only 2 other riders in the race were unattatched).

Just a quick post today. I'm off to the grocery store. Again. (why can't I just buy it all at once and never have to go back... I keep trying, but it doesn't work).

In the example of how I live a sad and pathetic life: For the last couple of days I keep trying to remember why May 12 is stuck in my head. Do I have an appointment that I forgot about? Someone's birthday that I need to get a card out? The date is important, but for the life of me I couldn't remember what it was. Until yesterday. Xbox will be announcing it's new console on the 12. Now that's sad.

Further proof of my sad and pathetic life:
I finally got thru Half-Life 2 yesterday (and isn't Gorden Freeman sexy?... I'm not sure if it's the MIT degree, the glasses, or that he is deadly with a crowbar). Now I can concentrate on my knitting more (ya, right... I'm already thinking about my next game.... Psychonauts, perhaps?).

Carissa tagged me, so tune it tomorrow for my answers.

I guess it's a good thing I didn't plan on going to Maryland Sheep and Wool. I got hit with a bit of a bug on Thursday and lines for bathrooms would not have been a good option (ya, I know TMI). Sadly, I had planned on going with Matt to the Turkey Hill Country Classic, but I didn't think this was a good idea either. They even had free ice cream (I looove Turkey Hill ice cream, I might add). On top of that, Matt's keys fell out of his jersey during the race, and he spent an hour looking for them after. Yes, I know that all sounds bad, but in fact we had a very nice relaxing weekend. Beautiful weather and the dogs got a bath... okay, that's not so relaxing, but they really needed baths.

Oh did I also mention that my hard drive crashed on Thursday? Don't worry, Matt was able to recover it. We also got a nice clean backup just in case it happens again and we can't recover (if I can't boot in safe mode: I panic.... but my hero got it fixed for me).

So between feeling under the weather, having a wonky computer (which means no game playing until everything is fixed, updated and checked), I decided that I needed a new project. Specifically an afghan (being sick I'm sure made me think of snuggling under an afghan). However, I was a good girl and didn't start a new afghan. I pulled out my
Leisure Arts Sampler Afghan and got a few more blocks done.
Hourglass Eyelets
Cable Check
Flame Chevron
Well, the Hourglass Eyelets has been done for a little bit, but I hadn't done the crochet edging on it yet. I'm trying to do them as I go, as I don't enjoy doing them. I am doing a slip stitch selvedge on the blocks and that has made it much much easier to do the edgings.

I have started the next block and I'm about halfway thru it. I did mostly simple, easily memorized blocks, but I think I'll do a more complex one for the next one. Just to keep it interesting.

I also continued working on Matt's
Cable O's Vest. I've started the armhole shaping and should get all the decreases done today. Then it's just straight pattern stitch until the shoulder shaping. It's a really lovely vest and Matt's keeping me motivated to work on it (positive re-inforcement does wonders....)
