So, these baby sweaters should be down by now, right? I mean, they're small and basic and I've been working on them all month. One little baby sweater a week was a realistic goal... until I remember that I suck at many aspects of this project: doing the same thing 4 times (hell, I can't even make a second sock). Obligation knitting is tedious... and why I don't knit for too many other people.

Yep, still on Baby Sweater #3. Just the sleeves left. To have all 4 done by the end of the weekend is going to be a challenge for me. Probably one I won't make... as I'm easily distracted. However, I will not start working on my October Challenge until after these baby sweaters are done. Here's a picture of the sweater I started back in 1992:

I'll be doing the non-hooded version. Since this was my first project, I bought the yarn used in the pattern. Paton's Norspun. It's an icelandic style acrylic yarn. It's not a great yarn, as I've had a lot of problems with uneven spinning with it. It's in a lovely shade of pink. However, it is holding up to the test of time and has allowed me to knit it several times. Even tho' this pattern is 13 years old, I think the style is pretty classic and will stand the test of time. My favorite type of knitting. I don't do "trendy" well... takes me too long to finish a project! I'm guessing that I'm going to have to start over with this project. Mostly because I know that as an experience knitter of 13 years knits very differently than a novice knitting her first project. I know that my tension is more even now, but also that it's probably not the same (tho' I'm still a very tight knitter... yep, I can get Alice Starmore gauge with her suggested needle). So I'm more or less going to start from scratch. I will also admit that if the yarn is irritating (too many yarn globs) I might switch out yarn... But first, must finish Baby Sweaters so they're done before they start college (yikes... 4 kids in college at one time. Hmmm, wonder if our vet prices will go up?)

Well, here we are... September is almost over and again I'm not even close to what I set out to do at the beginning of the month. My goals for the September Challenge was to finish 2 projects off my WIP list... not start projects and finish them (like I did in August). However, making 4 baby sweaters sorta threw that one out the window and now I'm just hoping to get all 4 sweaters done by the end of the month. However, I'm going to do an October Challenge, and I'm going to try something a bit different. Since it's Halloween, I think I'll use that as my inspiration: finish an old, dusty, even scary project from the back of the closet, or lurking under the bed. The project that makes you want to scream and run in fear! So here's the guidelines: 1. The project must already have been started 2. There must be some kind of element to it that's scary. ie: old and dusty or has a huge mistake that sent it to the closet (or under the bed) in the first place. Or maybe it needs to be done by Christmas and that scares the living daylights out of you. 3. It still must be "finishable"...iow: it's something that will get used when finished (even if it's gifted to someone else). Don't waste time on a project that you know you'll never use or wear. Sounds easy, eh? Again these are just guidelines and anyone who wants to participate can set up their own goals for the month. Specifically, here's what I'm going to finish in October: The very first project I ever started back in 1992. I'm going to blow off the cobwebs and get back to work on it. I've changed sizes so much since starting this project, first gaining weight so it wouldn't fit, but I've lost enough that I can wear it now. I'll probably have to do a complete restart, as I know that I knit at a different tension today than I did when I first started knitting So that's the October Challenge! The September Challenge page will be updated with the new theme on October 1. Oh, and I'm going to clear the September list and start from scratch, so you'll have to tag to let me know that you're participating. I want to keep the list updated and there are some on the current list that haven't updated since they first joined. If you're going to participate, please give updates! It's the participation that encourages us all to finish these projects!!! Any questions? just leave a comment or a tag!

I'm back. I had a little computer glitch last weekend and Matt was out of town so I had no computer access. Yes, it was my fault, and yes I even knew what I was doing could potentially cause a crash...*cough* Anyway, it gave me lots of time to knit... right? I mean, no computer to surf for new yarns, Matt out of town I should've been able to crank out baby sweaters like a little baby sweater factory. Yah, right. I'm still on baby sweater #3. I got distracted by this:

yep, finished the front and started the first sleeve for the Sampler Pullover. I would actually have the first sleeve done, but I wasn't happy with my decreases on the sleeve, so I pulled back to re do it. It's such a fast knit and this pattern is one of my very favorites. I love the cardigan I made in Cotton Fleece, even tho' it doesn't really fit me any more (hmmmm, I may have to make an other, eh?). Carissa, the evil enabler (which is why I love her) is swatching for the White Gansey. Hmmm, I have that pattern and I even have some yarn that might work really well. I guess I just really love these sectioned sampler patterns. Great for my short attention span. Okay, I guess I need the threat of 20 lashes with wet circular needles to get these %^$%^## baby sweaters done. I must spend at least half of mt day working on it! I'm going to shoot for finishing the body of the sweater today and finish the sleeves tomorrow. I'll be announcing the October Challenge tomorrow... it's going to be a bit different than the last 2 months...
