I pulled on the Cozy Shawl Collared Pullover yesterday (love top down construction) and I do think I'm going to be able to wear it with a little blocking. Now, I did have my sports bra on instead of my Nurse Diesel bra (Mel Brooks fans will know the reference), but I'm optimistic about it fitting now.
So I'm juggling a lot of projects right now and it's working for me. I did find a set of empty needles yesterday... and I didn't cast anything on them (yet...). Hmmmm, maybe something will get finished?
I finally got to the grocery store yesterday. Not having gone in almost two weeks made for a lot of grocercies (plus they had Goya beans on sale: 2/$1.00... I looove beans). Between the shopping, bagging, lugging and restocking, half my day was gone.
So I just fiddled around with my current projects:
The Cross Over Top is still on the right front. All armhole decreases are done and I'm almost at the neck decreases.
The Body Hugger Raglan is still on the front (or back) with about 1" left before I start the raglan shaping.
I'm on my second swatch for the Diamond Patch sweater. I used too small a needle for the first. The fabric had no drape and my diamonds were too small.
The Shawl Collared Pullover is on hold. I'm going to go ahead and finish it as is, thinking I can block it open to a 44" finished measurement. I have such bad spring fever right now, that I simply don't want to work on wool projects. I also may be suffereing from a bit of cable burnout. I do soooo much cable work, that I'm enjoying the simple knitting right now (which I normally see as being boring).
After a quick pick up (and maybe a little dog hair containment), I'm going to continue on the Diamond Patch swatch and try to finish up the right front on the Cross Over Top.
I also spent the day trying to make a page for the Diamond Patch Knitalong. I'm waiting for permission to use a photograph, but it took me way too long. Our internet connection kept going in and out yesterday (and doesn't seem much better this morning). Overall it was a very frustrating day. It's not much better this morning (still having a connection problem) and I still need grocercies (and of course it's raining today-I hate to get grocercies in the rain). May put it off one more day.
So I spent some time playing Legacy of Kain: Defiance (yes, again) and swatching for my new Diamond Patch sweater. Yes, I know there's one in my UFO list. I did pull it out, but I realized that I stopped working on it as I know I'm not going to want to wear it. The yarn is not going to be comfortable at all next to the skin. However, the yarn will make a lovely shawl or something.
As far as other knitting goes, the Cross Over Top is moving well. I'm past the armhole shaping on the right front. Love this yarn (and wouldn't it have been a great choice for a Diamond Patch???). I also admit that I'm in a bit of a cable burnout. Seems that I just want to make simple projects right now. I started a Body Hugger Raglan from The Purl Stitch (problem with knitting from books is that I'm too easily distracted by other designs).
Let's see what else I can start today... no must work on already started projects....
I've picked up a headcold and I feel like absolute krap. I need grocercies, but they'll have to wait (luckily, I stock my pantry just in case all the grocercy stores close).
My computer/internet connection is out to annoy me this morning; with great success. Pages don't want to load and I keep losing connection. (we won't discuss Pagebuilder: notice I still have this week's posting on the page, as I can't archive it).
Now the big disappointment. I met some knitting friends on Saturday, and one of the knitters is also making the Shawl Collared Pullover and her armholes looked much larger than mine. I came home and checked the pattern. Basically, since I'm working mine flat, I had to pick up the stitches along the sleeves (and I didn't think of marking where I was supposed to join the sleeves in the round). Long story short: I only picked up half the stitches I needed. So instead of a roomy 48" finished sweater, I ended up with a 42" sweater.
I've thought about a couple of solutions: block the krap out of it (I could wear a 44" for a slim fit sweater). This is my current thinking. I could add a panel down the sides of 16 stitches to make it 48". Or I could give it to Matt when finished (and he would look nice in the sweater). Or I could frog back to the armhole and re-do it. (the least appealling of of the options).
I'll think on it, put it aside for a bit and work on some other things. Looks like I may be starting a Diamond Patch KAL. Both Kristen and Carissa are thinking of making this, and I have one in my UFO closet. Anyone else interested? A summery project sounds very appealing right now...
Well, off to relax and do some laundry. A good activity for today
