Starting 3/15/05

Ya, I know I haven't blogged for a couple of days. I'm having a little knitting/blogging burnout. Actually, I'm a little burned out with everything. Restless with a very short attention span. I have to say that I'm not real fond of the Cross Over Top. I just don't love it as much as I thought I was going to. So I'm very disappointed. I'm going to go ahead and finish it... I may change my mind later. I've done that before. I'm just sort of playing around with some things, including a little Kool Aid dyeing (for this, I think...). I pick up stuff to work on and maybe do a row or 2 on a project, then put it back down. I can't even get inspired to start something new... Next weekend is the TGKA spring conference and I'm taking a couple of classes. I bet that will inspire me (these knitting events always do)...

Not much new to say today. The Cross Over Top is still damp, but I should be able to seam it up today. I couldn't seem to focus on any projects yesterday (I think it was from blocking a sweater... gives me a bad case of startitis). So I did start something. I actually started the Flower Basket Shawl. I don't normally like knitting lace, but this pattern is fairly basic. I actually bought the pattern from Fiber Trends, as I liked the different weights and sizes available (does the Interweave version have all those too? I don't have the issue). I'm using a some of the Baby Cashmere from Elann that I bought awhile ago (I think it was when they first started carrying this yarn). We'll see how long it lasts. As soon as I make a mistake with lace, I give up. I just hate trying to fix mistakes in lace. I'm procrastining on all my other projects. Marilyn is at a high concentration part and the Cozy Shawl Collared Pullover has become a bit tedious (gee, it feels like I've been working on it for months!). So I'll have to pull out either the Diamond Patch or the Body Hugger today and maybe a few rows of the FBS. Or maybe start something new?????

A productive weekend, to be sure! I finished up the knitting on the Cross Over Top from Sally Melville's The Purl Stitch. I'll block it today then sew it up and add the bands. The Wool in the Woods yarn was a delight to knit with and I so love the colors. This is going to be a great vest or sleeveless top this summer! The other knitting that I worked on was for the Marilyn KAL. I finished up the bottom band and now I've got to set the patterns for the body. Always a challenge!

I also had a major inspiration for the Cozy Shawl Collared Aran. I decided to do insert bands to make it a bit bigger after all. I just didn't think I was going to be happy with a moss stitch panel, so I decided to add a cable panel down the sides. It will look more like a design element rather than an attempt to make the sweater larger:

Last but very very far from least is that I received a package from Carissa on Friday:

The blue Koigu was a "prize" that I won for guessing the correct yarn for her Marilyn. Look at all the other lovelies she threw in: handmade stitch markers, a beautiful multicolor red yarn, Celtic Dreams pattern, a little Canadian strawberry Koolaid and a sweet card. So wonderful! A great little package of muchly appriciated things! Thanks so much Carissa!!! Hope everyone has a great Monday?
