I've finished the Cozy Shawl Collared Aran Pullover. I will block it today and get a picture up as soon as I can (today is not a good picture day, plus it really needs a good blocking).

I've got post project completetion restlessness. Not sure what to work on now. What I "should" do is a little organization, but that seems like too much work. A little spring cleaning? naw... I want to knit.

The problem is I'm not sure what I want to knit. I have plenty to choose from. I should work on the KAL's I've got going, but I'm also thinking that I should finish up something for Matt. The
Happy Husband Sweater? the Cable O's Vest? The Staghorn Pullover? Hmmm, do I see a trend in my taste? (let's not forget that I'm also working on the Spring Forward Cardigan).

I just think that every once in a while you find a designer that designs specifically for your taste.
Janet Szabo is that designer for me. I find her designs to be timeless (which is important for me, as it takes me a long time to finish things) and interesting to knit (which is important to me, as I get bored easily). So I guess I am officially a groupie. Thanks so much Janet for designing so many sweaters that I want to knit...

The side panels are in for the Cozy Shawl Collared Aran Pullover. Woo-Hoo! I have the bottom on needles, now it's just a matter of doing some 2X2 ribbing, weave in the ends and it's all ready to wear.... in the fall.

Actually, it might get some wear before. It's just that we're having BEAUTIFUL weather!! Open windows tee shirts sunshine blooming flowers kind of weather. It is supposed to storm this afternoon and bring a cold front, but I'm basking in this delightful weather. I'm sure it will get cold enough again for my new sweater.

Now that the SCA is on the smaller, ribbing sized needles I have one of the most dangerous things for me: an empty needle set. My compulsiveness about starting new projects really hates seeing empty needles. However, I have so many things waiting for me, I'm not sure how tempted I am to start something... especially since I've decided to re-start Marilyn to the smaller size.

I think the
Marilyn KAL is dead. I'm a bit lonely on the tagboard, so I think I'll be doing it all by myself. Maybe it's just the wrong time of year to start a wool cabled sweater KAL? I'll keep plugging away on mine (or rather re-start mine).

Well, back to finishing up a sweater (did I mention "woo-hoo!"?)

Did you ever make a mistake, come up with a solution that you are so happy with that you then can't imagine making the project with the "fix"?
Yep, that's the cable insert I made to widen the finished width on the Shawl Collared Aran. I love it! I think it looks great and definitely doesn't look like a "fix".

I still have to finish knitting the second panel and sew it in. I'll then pick up the entire bottom band and do the ribbing.

My overall length is going to be a bit shorter than the original pattern, as I wanted to end it at a specific point. This will make a cropped sweater, but that's fine with me, as I rather prefer a cropped style. I figure I'll have the sweater finished tomorrow (minus a light blocking).

Kudos again to
Janet Szabo for the pattern. I love this sweater so much. It's just a stunning combination of cables. I'm looking forward to getting back to work on the Spring Forward Cardigan!

I had a truely great time with my classes at the TKGA/CGOA conference in Valley Forge. I learned something in each class. Again, I love Melissa Leapman as an instructor...  I would take any class she's teaching. The other crochet class I took was okay and I got  some good information out of it, but again I ran into the knitting bashing in that class. The advanced finishing class with Margaret Fisher was great (again, I like her as an instructor) and I got a lot of useful information. I finally learned what I've been doing wrong when I pick up my wraps on short rows. I also learned the tubular cast on, which I think is pretty handy. I will also mention that I did not hear one negative comment about crocheters in the knitting class (but I know there are a lot of snobby knitters out there that put down crochet, too).

Anyway, the real question: "what did you buy". Well, I think I was actually pretty good about keeping it to a minimum. I only spent money in one booth:
Black Water Abbey. I love the yarn and the dedication to cables...however, I actually bought a fair isle kit (yes, regular readers of my blog know that I'm not big on knitting fair isle. I've only finished one project to date...), but the colors were just so me, and it's only a little purse...

I also got some grey yarn to make Matt an other vest. He loves his Cables 101 Vest, but says he prefers pullovers. No problem. I think I'll make the same vest, but just do it as a pullover.

The other purchase was some
buttons for Marilyn.

So good shopping! To top it off, my package from
Elann came too. So I started a project, of course. I'm re-doing one of my favorite sweaters that no longer fits.
Elann's Alpaca yarn in Cactus. Yummy
The conference was just what I needed to get inspired again. I'm so inspired, as a matter of fact, I've less than one repeat to go on the back of the Cozy Shawl Collared Aran!! I also have one of the side panels almost completed. Well, enough blogging... back to the needles!
