Starting TBD
Well, I thought I would be posting some more progress pictures, especially of the Spring Forward Cardigan, as I've finished the first sleeve (can I hear a "woo-hoo"?), but something much better to blog about came in yesterday's mail.

Actually, 2 packages arrived yesterday. The first came from
Carissa. It included a pattern from her Stash Sale and she also sent me a cookbook. A really really cool cookbook. Funny and low fat! I think we'll try one of the recipes out tonight (probably the Scentilentil Journey or the Wowie Maui Chicken).

That's not all... I also received a package from Tori!!! Out of the blue she sent me some beautiful stitch markers and a lovely card.
Delicate Summer Jacket
Cozy Shawl Collared Aran

Cross Over Top
Denim Socks
Retired KAL's
Let's not forget that Tori was also very sweet and sent me a gift certificate so I could buy the yarn for this.... how sweet is that?

I think it's very easy when feeling bad about oneself to forget that there are people out there... people that I've never physically met... that are so wonderful and supportive. I'm very good at wallowing in self pity and I forget that there are such good people out there. It's been great getting comments and emails from friends from all over to help perk me up in during this little low self esteem period that I've been going thru since the beginning of June. It has meant the world to me and I can't say enough how much those comments and thoughts have really helped me feel better about myself. Usually when I get in a funk, I pull back from doing things and avoid being around people (I know that I'm not always a pleasant person to be around), but having supportive friends really does make a difference.

Well, enough of that, I usually save all my emotional garbage for my fitness blog, but I just wanted to say thanks guys, you are The Best!!!!

Tomorrow I get to hang out with some knitting friends in celebration of
Joan's retirement! Go wish her a happy retirement (and birthday!!!)... I'll try to remember my camera and I'll have updates on projects soon (most likely Monday....)
Thanks to Matt at

Picture Day! I tried to get all my projects updated yesterday while there was some clear skies... so let's do a roll call!

Let's start with my favorite: The Spring Forward Cardigan!
I'm at about the same length I was before I frogged the sleeve, but last time I was at this point I had already done all my decreases. I'm just a bit passed the elbow and I think this one will be fine.
Ida's Springtime Cardigan is zipping along as well. Almost done on the back. The color is really off in the photo, as the yarn is much darker and "plummy" (hmmm, is that a word?)
The One Button Cardigan is progressing. I haven't really done much lately, maybe just one repeat.
Last, but never least, let me introduce you to the Flyingdale Cardigan. I love the color (alas, the photo isn't accurate as usual). I'm almost done with the st. st. skirt.

That's what is in rotation right now. At least those are the projects that I've worked on for the last week. A little here, a little there... and some progress!

Okay, today is not about knitting, but doll making. Sarah asked me a few questions about a doll I sent to her for Carrie and I told her I would post a picture of my favorite doll. I used to make and sell dolls (paid for my first year of college doing craft fairs). This doll was my least expensive and I could crank them out fairly quickly. This is the only one I have still around... and she doesn't have hair.
As you can see the body is really nothing more than a gingerbread man shape. She's then stuffed, then the neck is wrapped to create a little definition. The eyes and mouth are then sewn to add a little shaping to the head. The total body length is about 7"... these are "purse" sized dolls. The dolls take no time to make, then I would make really pretty lacey dresses for them.

I can't tell you how many of these I've made. I started making dolls for sale around the age of 13 and even thought I would make it as my career after I stopped working. I like making them, but I'm not fond of doing the craft shows... so I stopped and concentrated on my knitting!

Summer colds, or what ever this is, completely suck. So there's been a bit of a slow down on doing much of anything.

I spent some time over the weekend with the Spring Forward Cardigan, but I'm not even half way on the first sleeve. I also spent some time with Ida's Springtime Cardigan. I'm past the armhole shaping on the back.

In fact I'm spending most of my time blowing my nose and bitching and complaining.

Matt had his best result so far this season on Saturday. He did a cat 4/5 race on Saturday and finished 6th out of 70. It had a big climb in it, which is to his benefit (it's easier for the smaller riders to climb... less weight to lug up the hills). Having a bike that weighs more than 5lbs less than his old bike helped, too.

Sorry, this is such a krappy post, but I'm feeling pretty krappy. Hopefully, I'll get some photos done for tomorrow. Oh, and maybe the humidity will break and I can turn off the air conditioner and get some fresh air into the house instead of the steam that's out there now.
