All the swatches are done for the first part of the Basics, Basics, Basics. However, I'm going to try the #@&%#^ swatch #3 again. Still not happy with it. The rest are all blocked and "okay".

Been working on the projects around my knitting nest a bit at a time: the Cable O's Vest, the Cropped Cardigan Redux and the Lasso Gansey (which I'm loving, but it's going to take me forever to make. I love small gauge sweaters to wear, but oh, why must they take so long to knit?)

The dreary weather is supposed to break tomorrow. Thank goodness. I need a little sunshine right now.

Have a great weekend!!!

The September Challenge projects still seem to be the focus (even if I can't spell September... I misspelled it on the Challenge tagboard twice!!!). However, I did do some other things yesterday as well.

First, the Cable O's Vest is progressing. Matt really really wants this vest finished. I have no idea why I thought cotton would be a good idea. It looks beautiful, but not really a pleasure to knit:
I did work a few more rows on the Cropped Cardigan Redux sleeve as well, but the sleeve has warped into the blackhole of no progress. I still have about 2" to go.

As I needed a little break from Challenges and TKGA knitting, I decided to finish up the Lasso on the
Lasso Gansey:
I love the construction method for this cardigan. Trust Janet Szabo to come up with a great way to construct a sweater. Even Matt commented on it.

I now have a lot of stitches to pick up before I can start the basketweave section (have I mentioned that basketweave is one of my favorite patterns?).

So my plans for today are to continue with the swatches for the Basics, Basics, Basics class and work on my September Challenge projects. I figure I'll get to the October project before the end of the year... maybe. I mean the project is only 13 years old...that's not that long. I mean, I've had my car longer than that....

First, let's talk about comments. I think this comes up with every blogger: how do I respond to comments? Well, I've been sort of avoiding the issue lately. However, I realize that if people take the time to comment on my blog (which is greatly appriciated) I can take a few minutes to respond. I'll be trying to respond to comments in the comment box. So thanks to everyone who leaves comments, I know it's not always easy to leave them (I'm not very good about it... I'm always afraid I'll leave a stupid comment).

So, let's talk Master Knitter Level I, shall we. Well, I wimped out yesterday as I was reading thru the material. I felt like I was jumping in way over my head. Luckily,
Kate mentioned at Stitch n Bitch about the Basics, Basics, Basics course. I remember that I had ordered it years ago (2001, to be exact). Well, I shot an email off to make sure my packet was up to date, and I got the go ahead. This is supposed to cover the basics of what I need to do Level I, but it's more about learning, not about "passing". The other nice thing is that I also will be able to use it as a source for my Level I material.

What have I learned so far? Well, I learned I'm a little freaked by having someone judge my knitting. I'm not sure why. I went to an art college. My work was not only judged, but put up on a wall for everyone to see and critique. You would think that I would be comfortable with it. I think it's because I think I'm a better knitter than artist and therefore I'm more concerned that I'm not as good of a knitter as I think I am?

I did the first two swatches, wrote up my answers, blocked them and then started on swatch #3. I've now worked swatch #3 at least 4 times. I can not get my left slanting increase as neat as my right. Ugh. Maybe I was just tired. I'll give it a shot again today.

Since the Basics course is divided up into 3 classes, and there's only 5 swatches for this first one, I'm going to try to get it out this week (or early next week). So I'm extending my Monday focus to this week for it (mixed in with my other knitting of course-I want to try to finish up my September Challenges yet!!!)

So today I'll work on swatch #3, and hopefully #4. I'm also going to try to finish the Cropped Cardigan Redux sleeve today as well.

Happy Tuesday everyone!!!

The baby sweaters have basically put me a month behind schedule. I'm actually being very productive for my September Challenge projects.

I'm almost done on the first sleeve for the Cropped Cardigan Redux:
I also finished up a block for the Leisure Arts Sampler Afghan (it hasn't been blocked yet, as you can see...)
I also worked on the Cable O's Vest for Matt (no picture of progress...). However, I haven't touched my October Challenge project at all. I'm happy just trying to finish some of these projects up right now and I plan on getting to the Pink Cardigan yet.

But not today, as I've designated Monday's to be Master Knitter's day. I plan on getting started with the program today. I really want to take my time with the swatches (not something I'm good at...) and really work on my neatness (also not something I'm good at). So I'll work on my swatches today and hopefully get started on the questions.

Maybe I'll also finish up that first sleeve for the Cropped Cardigan Redux?
