Ah, proof that I am doing some knitting! Still plugging away on the Cable O's Vest. I'm so happy with how it looks, but the cotton is a bit of a challenge*. My hands start to bother me after about 2 or 3 rows and I have to put it down. I still think I can get to the armhole decreases by the weekend. I just might get this done by the end of the month! Matt will be thrilled!
I did look at some projects yesterday, but I didn't cast on anything new. I think I've finally hit UFO saturation. Everything I considered reminded me of an other project that I have already started.
I did work on an older UFO project from the closet. I worked a few rows on Matt's Sampler Cardigan. Having just finished my pullover, I was reminded how fun this pattern is to knit. I have one of fronts done and half of the other. It's a nice break from the Cable O's Vest. A good balance actually.
*Let me say that the original pattern uses Cascade 220, a favorite yarn. The pattern would've been a breeze to knit in the wool... sadly I have an odd compulsion to change yarns in a pattern, even if the yarn is a favorite. While I love the look of the cotton, in retrospect, the Cascade would've been an easier to knit choice.

I'm feeling lazy today so no new pictures. I did work quite a few rows on the Cable O's Vest at Stitch n Bitch last night. Once I hit the armhole/neck shaping, it's going to go pretty quickly (I hope).
The real confession? I'm not knitting that much. I've spent the last 2 days playing Sly 2. It's not the most productive way to spend my days.
The Basics, Basics, Basics stuff is still sitting here waiting for me to get the pages printed out. I might ask Matt to print them out at work. I'm pretty annoyed that our printer isn't working. I can't figure out what's wrong. (it keeps trying to align the cartridges but cancels out about 1/4 of the way thru. I can't over ride it or do anything else until it's aligned. I've re set the cartridges and I'm out of ideas... apart from setting up the other printer, but that doesn't help with the scanning).
I have to admit to feeling like something new... maybe I'll look for a quick easy project today to cast on. I've been working on the same 3 or 4 projects since the baby sweaters. Or maybe I'll dig thru the UFO's and pull something out to work on just for a little break.
Or I could play Sly 2.

Let's just say I shouldn't be allowed to touch anything mechanical. I tried to switch out the cartridges on the printer this morning (I will add that yes, I have had my coffee) and proceeded to make sure the printer no longer works. So I still can't print out my stuff for the Basics class nor can I scan in the 5 afghan blocks I finished up over the weekend.
It's just one of those days.
Yesterday Matt and I went clothes shopping for him. He needed pants. First let me say that clothes are so incredably ugly that it almost makes me want to vomit. Second, let me say that these wide leg pants on a petite man look clownish. Matt's a hard size to find pants for (29 X 30) and then you add these boot cut pants. Ugh.
I don't buy clothes much for myself (why should I when I could use my money to buy yarn... infinitely better than silly ol' clothes), but even I need things every once in a while. I browsed while we were in The Gap (one of the few stores that carries smaller men sizes). OMG... and people are buying this horrible stuff? It was ugly the last time in it was in style! The cut of pants are so disproportioned that they are not flattering on anyone. It's almost as if designers sit around and try to design for the most ill fitting, unflattering colors/prints/fabrics/cuts they can come up with...
So no, I didn't buy anything. I'll stick with my classic cut LL Bean jeans and my hand knit sweaters.
In good news: our 14 year old car passed inspection! (we did put new belts on so we can run the a/c this summer). There's something reassuring about not having any UFO's older than my car...

The sun is finally shining again and the temps are in cooler range (more typical for this time of year). So it makes me think of afghans...
One of my September goals was to finish 2 afghan blocks (and 2 in October then the last 2 in November with December having a sewing and the border goal). Well, since I'm off schedule, I decided to shoot for 3 blocks in October and November and still with hope of finishing the afghan by the end of the year.
One block is done and I've started the next. It's an easy one and should go quickly. That would only give me one more block to do this month.
And since I was on an afghan block phase, I went and did 4 (almost finished with a 5th) crochet block too. That was as much of a need to switch out from knitting for a bit. My hands were starting to get a little fatigued. Since I'm scanning in the crochet blocks, I'll add them to the page tomorrow. My scanner is one of thos "all in one" thingies (that's the techie word) and needs a new ink cartridge, so it won't let me do anything until I relpace it.
Other knitting done over the weekend? Well, all the swatches are done and blocked for the Basics, Basics, Basics course. I'm okay with them. I'm not the world's best blocker (I can be impatient and that's not a good thing) and I do think I need to work on my "neatness" a bit. But that's what I'm doing this for. |

Oh and I did work on other projects here and there. That's progress on the Lasso Gansey. The other projects didn't get enough done to be picture worthy (a couple more rows done on the Cable O's Vest).
Today I'm going to finish up the writing on the Basics program so I can print it out tomorrow (once I get a new ink cartridge tonight) plus a few other projects here and there, like a few more rows on the Cable O's Vest...
Happy Monday!!
